Thanks Terry. You obviously have much more patience for this kind of thing than I do. But you may not have seen the rest of this person's antics? He went on to post dozens of nonsense and foul/profane messages of huge size, logging in with several different names. They were all immediately deleted and I banned his IP address as a consequence. But it just shows that there was no sincerity in any of his messages. Just childish pranks from a bored kid on a weekend, probably when his parents weren't home... I would gues he's one of the 'problems' that shut down the other board (although I've heard other reasons for that board going down 'for maintenance'!). But that's not a subject for our board ;-)

People of this sort are part of the reason that I have some reservations about having a forum at all. There is little we can do to avoid the intrusions of these kinds of misfits other than total moderation. This would entail every message going through the webmaster prior to posting. I don't think there is anyone in Bristol, including myself, who has that much spare time. It could cause some pretty extreme embarrassment for the entire web-site as well as the town if the wrong type of material was to show up on the forum.

This will have to be a part of our discussions as we begin our task of putting up the Bristol Town Forum. I've got to tell you that it really does cause me some concern.
