Is there really any organized opposition group in South Bristol? Is anyone actually forming a real strategy for stopping this intrusion? Is there anyone leading and organizing any opposition group? .... Any meetings? .....Anything at all?

I just got a call from a guy in Bloomfield who is just about ready to take on the Pentagon if necessary to block these windmills from coming into the Bristol Hills. I wish South Bristol had a few people with his kind of passion. He was inquiring about any organized opposition group but I had to tell him that I could supply no names, addresses or phone numbers of any such leaders in the town. If they exist, they must have gone underground, because I haven't heard a sound. I sent him to your website, because this is the only place that I've heard of anyone who is not infatuated by the idea of having these lovely additions to our hilltops.

He did raise the possibility that perhaps this could be turned into a County issue if enough pressure were brought to bear by a group of significant size and influence. I think he's right. Because this wind project impacts the viewscape of many more towns than South Bristol, I think it could rightfully be turned into a county issue. But, the organization has to be started by those directly and immediately impacted....the residents of South Bristol.

I'm afraid that soon these things will be installed without a public word of descent. What a shame that would be.

If there is any such group formed, could you give us names, addresses or phone numbers or any contact information so that those that wished to join the effort could do so?

Well, I can't say that there's a 'leader'. I know a few people who are deaply involved. I know very many people who are opposed. But I don't know a leader...
There has been talk of getting an official group together though and I'm waiting to hear more about that. Just in case anyone wonders, I'm not in the inner circle of opposition here. I just run a web site about S.Bristol and am very opposed to the windmills here. I offer any services I can on or off the web site to 'the cause' which includes the info I have gathered, this message board and any other options available to web sites such as mailing lists or whatever. I'm more than happy to join and support, but like most people I doubt I would have the time to 'lead'. I don't know what the local folk would think about that anyway since I'm kindof an 'outsider' here (only lived here for 6 years or so)... But I'm more than willing to offer what I can including a push or shove to get people involved or even a place to meet. I'll even supply coffee & tea, but not chairs ;-) (if we got that many people anyway).
Luckily, the Messenger articles and that absurd/biased/industry PR garbage spewing out of Hobart are helping us get more people involved and interested. Maybe with just a little push, we could actually get a meeting together? Or should I say a meeting that included you and I. I can't say whether or not 'they' have met yet ;-)
Oh, as far as names... I wouldn't give them here in public as that just wouldn't be the right thing to do. But then there is 'private' ;-) with their permission of course...
